On Friday 3 October NYA, UK Youth and the Network of Regional Youth Work Units opened the first youth sector convening space: Standing Together in Solidarity. It was open to all and provided a chance to gather, connect and decide how to move forward together.  It was good to share, listen and speak about how we all felt as colleagues and we felt that we needed more time to be able to share before we collectively look at what resources, discussions, support and actions that we need to put in place to be able to support workforce and young people.

Initially hosted by National Youth Agency, UK Youth and the Network of Regional Youth Work Units but this process of conveying belongs to the sector as a whole. We aim to bring together youth organisations, youth workers, volunteers, and anyone else from the sector again who want to stand against racism, Islamophobia, and all forms of division.  The next dates are:

The purpose is:

  • To create a safe, inclusive space for connection and solidarity.
  • To listen and acknowledge the experiences of those in the youth sector.
  • To share and strengthen the great work already happening locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • To identify practical, tangible actions that participants can lead on and take back into their own settings.

Please come, bring your voice, and help shape what happens next.
