Job Title: Male Youth Worker (Level 2 Qualified)
Location: Sharrow Community Forum, South View Road, S7 1DB
Hours: 4 hours per week (Fridays 4:30pm – 8:30pm), with potential to increase hours in the new year.
Hourly Rate: £11.44
Start Date: As soon as possible
About the Role:
Sharrow Youth Club is seeking a passionate and qualified Male Youth Worker to join our team. This role will initially be for 4 hours per week, working with children and young people aged 9-14 years every Friday evening. As we expand and move into our new building in the new year, there will be opportunities to increase your hours and further develop your role.
You will play a vital role in delivering engaging and supportive activities, creating positive relationships, and encouraging the personal and social development of young people in the Sharrow community. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a dynamic and diverse environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support youth sessions for ages 9-14 on Friday evenings.
- Build positive relationships with young people, acting as a role model and mentor.
- Deliver a range of creative, educational and fun activities
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants.
- Work closely with other youth workers and volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the sessions.
- Support the emotional and social well-being of young people, providing guidance and interventions where necessary.
- Uphold safeguarding and health & safety standards in all aspects of the role.
Requirements:
- Level 2 Youth Work Qualification (or equivalent).
- Experience working with children and young people in a community or youth club setting.
- Ability to engage with and motivate young people from diverse backgrounds.
- A strong understanding of the issues affecting young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the values of equality, inclusion, and youth empowerment.
- A valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one before starting).
Desirable:
- Additional training in safeguarding, first aid, or related fields.
