REMY is a group of young people aged 12-25, all of whom are from global ethnic majorities communities within Yorkshire and Humber. It seeks to identify specific issues faced by young people of colour, and work to address and find solutions for these issues.
Currently we are working on relationships between young people and the police, investigating racism in schools and supporting the #blackcurriculm campaign.
Following the disturbances in the summer of 2024, REMY members wrote an open letter share how they felt and asking those in power, what they were going to do, to ensure young people of colour feel safe and supported, and how racism was to be tackled in schools and wider society, how misinformation on social media and the use a algorithms that narrow people’s perspectives were to be challenged.

To support their work, members are training as peer researchers, in preparation for working with their peers to understand their experiences and what changes can be made, with the intention of developing a range of training packs. This work is being kindly funded by the Wharfedale Foundation – BUILDING STRONGER COMMUNITIES IN YORKSHIRE AND THE HUMBER
