We are the Energy Futures Education team at Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, and would be delighted to share our knowledge with your school.   

 Northern Gas Networks currently provides energy for cooking, hot water, and heating to 6.8 million people throughout the North of England. Our region spans 25,000km² from the Scottish borders to South Yorkshire, and the north-east coast to northern Cumbria.  

 With a network of underground pipes stretching 37,000km – enough to stretch from Leeds to Sydney, Australia and back – we are exploring ways for this infrastructure to continue to meet our customers’ needs while carrying cleaner forms of energy, including hydrogen.

Since launching the program in September 2023, we have been offering outreach activities to schools, and we have been privileged to work with over 45,000 young people across our region. 

We gained great feedback from the schools and colleges we have worked with, and you can see examples of the sessions on our social media platforms (Linked in, Twitter and Facebook). 

 We provide free interactive and engaging learning, delivered through a range of methods including assemblies, lessons, presentations, and a full day of activities. We also work with community groups such as the cubs etc and can run session to help gain science badges etc.  

How long our sessions are is up to you and your needs.   

All of our team have advanced DBS checks and have undertaken advanced safeguarding training.
