Centrepoint has unveiled a powerful new installation in London, filled with personal objects that helped young people survive their darkest moments. The campaign shines a spotlight on the growing youth homelessness crisis, with the charity estimating that 23,500 young people in the UK are at risk of homelessness this winter.
One of those young people is Jahz, who turned to Centrepoint shortly after his 18th birthday. Reflecting on what kept him going, he shared: “I started my teddy collection when I was three years old. I still have many of them today, including Simba, a lion teddy.”
The exhibition, called “Winter Wanderland,” draws inspiration from London’s famous Winter Wonderland. Every year, around 2.5 million people visit the attraction, spending nearly £100 million. By contrast, Centrepoint’s installation uses this festive backdrop to highlight the stark reality faced by thousands of young people without a safe place to call home
