I’m Sarah, a PhD student at the University of York working on the CHILL (Cold Homes Impacting Local Lives) in Yorkshire & Humber study, a project exploring the link between fuel poverty and adolescent mental health.

Fuel poverty disproportionately affects young people, yet their voices are often missing from the conversation. My research aims to fill this gap by exploring how living in cold, damp conditions or lacking essential energy, impacts the wellbeing, schoolwork, and daily lives of young people.

I am inviting young people aged 14-18 with experience of fuel poverty to share their stories in a relaxed, private, one-hour conversation. Participants will receive a £25 shopping voucher as a thank you.

I understand this is a sensitive topic and I am committed to ensuring that all participants are treated with care and respect.
