From coastlines to city streets – and everywhere in between – youth work looks different across England.

The National Youth Sector Census captures this diversity, building the most comprehensive national picture of youth provision – showing where it exists, how it’s delivered and where support is needed.

Since launching, over 2,800 organisations across 28,000 locations have contributed. However, many – particularly smaller and grassroots providers – are still underrepresented.
We’ve extended the completion deadline to 30 June to help ensure a broader and more representative picture of the sector is captured.

🎥 What makes your region unique?

As part of the final push, NYA has launched a series of short videos exploring the language, landmarks and local pride that define youth work across England.

Watch the series here.

These films are designed to spark reflection and conversation – highlighting why regional differences matter.

We encourage you to watch, share, and ask: what makes your provision unique?

By taking part, you help ensure your work is visible and your region is fully represented in national decision-making.

Leigh Middleton, Chief Executive, NYA said:

“If you’re showing up for young people, it’s vital your work shows up in the data.Youth work looks different in every community – and that matters. The Census helps us understand those differences, so we can better support the sector, target investment and ensure no region is overlooked.”

Complete the Census by 30 June. It takes around 15 minutes, is mainly tick-box, and you can save and return to it. Find out more and ensure your youth provision shows up on the map here.
