The EP is pulling together a “youth council” of around six young people from across the country, to help plan an event in October to be hosted in Leeds.  The young advisors will met online to plan, and will open and close the event, with some input in the middle of the agenda too.

The EP want to see whether risks that the “response world” (councils, government, emergency services, etc.) is planning for are those which concern young people, or not. The goal is for young people to inform the thinking and shape conversations around risk planning.

In terms of the time commitment, it would require roughly an hour per week for 5/6 weeks in the run up to the October event, plus the full day of the event. EP will be paying for the young people’s time on this – exact amount TBC but likely to be £200 – £300, plus travel expenses.

EP are aiming to recruit people with a mix of backgrounds and experiences, and while the focus is on this event, there may be other opportunities afterwards depending on how things develop. Candidates need to be aged 18 – 25.

The plan is to have a “kick-off” meeting early/mid-July, so if you or anyone you know is interested, please email Marcus at marcusbowen@vcsep.org.uk ASAP to indicate this.
