Thank you to Harpreet Uppal MP for securing yesterday’s important debate on the National Youth Strategy and enrichment and for making the case for a strengthened statutory duty on local authorities to provide a sufficient local youth offer, backed by sufficiency benchmarks and sustainable investment.
It was encouraging to hear MPs from across the House champion the role of youth work in helping young people develop skills, confidence and resilience; highlight the urgent need to rebuild the youth work workforce; recognise the vital role youth workers play as trusted adults in young people’s lives; and emphasise the importance of ensuring young people’s voices help shape the decisions that affect them.
