It’s been a hard few weeks, with the events surrounding the passing of Professor Jason Arday and recently published stats from TellMama highlighting a sustained escalation in anti-Muslim hatred. We wanted to hold space to explore what this all means for young people, particularly at a time when results season brings questions of achievement, aspiration and young people’s futures to the fore.

For this session we’ll explore how media narratives and racism can shape young people’s sense of what is possible for them and what this means for youth work. Ultimately asking ourselves: how can we challenge limiting narratives, support young people to navigate what they see and hear, and actively build them up?
