Help protect the places that speak the language of young people.
A dictionary written by young people who need youth clubs the most.
JD Sports and BBC Children in Need have worked with young people in clubs across the UK to create ‘The Youth Club Dictionary ’, which is the first of its kind to preserve alternative definitions of words spoken within youth clubs.
The need for the dictionary was born out of an alarming statistic which revealed that 1,200 youth clubs have closed across the UK since 2010.
Each closure cuts off a vital line of communication between a young person and a trusted youth worker who understands them.
When we lose youth clubs, we lose the language that lives inside.
