The Department for Education (DfE) has published a press release about proposed amendments to the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill aimed at strengthening the rights of children in care in England and Wales to maintain sibling contact. If implemented, the new measures would require local authorities to promote and facilitate contact for children in care who are separated from their siblings, unless not in the child’s best interests, such as in cases of violence or abuse or where social workers have other concerns about wellbeing
