The government is set to pilot a university clearance-style system where ‘near miss’ applicants who don’t secure their top choice apprenticeship will be re-directed to similar opportunities in their area.

Delivered in partnership with employers and Mayoral Strategic Authorities the online platform will centralise apprenticeship info for young people. It will show real earnings and career progress. Funded by the Growth and Skills Levy, it aims to add 50,000 apprenticeships.

Pat McFadden, Work and Pensions Secretary, says apprenticeships provide young people with chances to earn, learn, and secure good jobs. Many are unaware, but clearer info and better support will change that. This initiative aims to support young people in securing future jobs and helps employers find the talent they need.
