Over the last six months, the Centre for Youth Voice Practitioner Panel have been working alongside the team at the College to develop a new pilot tool that brings together data from across the UK on all things youth voice. The Observatory enables you to find out what’s working in practice, what activities are reaching which groups of young people, and the gaps that currently exist in these areas.

The Observatory brings together publicly available data from across the UK and supports you to find answers to your most pressing questions on youth voice practice in relation to region, approach, messaging, and so much more.

In 2023, our consultation overwhelming reported that while there are lots of examples of youth voice activity happening across the UK, it was difficult to determine what constituted as ‘good’ youth voice practice – how successful the activity was at engaging different groups of young people, the impact it was having, and which approaches were best at levelling access to opportunities.

The Observatory is for everyone – that is, all who have an interest in youth voice or broadening opportunities for young people to have their voices heard – and can be used in a multitude of ways, including finding great examples of youth voice and organisational learning: our databank shows who’s doing good youth voice, what it looks like in practice, and helps others learn from what has worked in the past
