June, has not only been Pride Month, which the YWU and local LGBT youth groups have been celebrating and preparing for the National Pride Event to be held in Doncaster in August.

It has also hosted a range of conferences and events focusing on Sustainability.  Current and former members of RYCA (regional youth climate assembly, a representative body, that brings young people active and interested in addressing climate change together, to provide a platform for young people to part of the climate discussion), have been, or will be, both key note and panel members at a range of events.

Last week Django – Sheffield, spoke passionately at South Yorkshire Sustainability Centre Annual Event held in Rotherham, about intergenerational climate action.  Django shared their experience of being a member of RYCA and Teach the Future, and the need for  youth work to support young people to take action – you can watch his short film here.

This coming week, Edie – Leeds, Jude – Sheffield are speaking at the Yorkshire Sustainability Festival while other member are attending the Launch of the Priestley Centre for Climate Futures on Thursday.   Next week – Will – Calderdale, Edie – Leeds and Tasos – North East Lincolnshire are participating in roundtable discussion a the Launch of the YHCC Skills Flagship Project.
