The Executive Board of Leeds City Council have agreed that the authority will adopt being care experienced as a protected characteristic. This followed a deputation from care leavers in January’s full council meeting. This is part of a nationwide campaign led by care leaver Terry Galloway. Approximately 80 councils have now passed a resolution to recognise care experience as a protected characteristic.
