In March 2024, 63,000 young people in Yorkshire and Humber voted in the Make Your Mark ballot, which identified Health and Wellbeing as being the largest issue facing them.
We are therefore facilitating an event to bring together young people from across the Yorkshire and Humber region, so we can go into greater depth about the issue and gain an insight into specific things that need changing.
The 4 youth health boards from the different sub-regions of Yorkshire (Humber and North Yorkshire Nothing About Us Without Us – Children and Young People’s Mental Health Advisory Group, Humber Youth Action Group, Chillypep [South Yorkshire], and the West Yorkshire Youth Collective) and Healthwatch teams across the patch, are working with Youth Work Unit to host the event, as we are experienced in health matters, and many young people feel as though we are well connected to health organisations.
The event is for any young people aged 25 and under, from across the Yorkshire and Humber region, with an interest in health and wellbeing.
It will take place at York City Church, The Citadel, Gillygate, York, Y031 7EA on Saturday 9th November, from 10:30am to 3:45pm. Lunch will be provided.
Outcomes of the day are:
- For young people to learn about the work of the health boards and how to get involved either directly or as a partner.
- For the health boards to understand specifically why Health and Wellbeing was voted the top issue, so it can inform our future work.
- For groups to share what they are doing / working on , allowing us to ensure we aren’t replicating work. How can we build on each other’s work?
- To identify young people’s regional health and wellbeing priorities
- Plan next steps
