Racism is increasingly hitting the headlines and incidents are rising in the UK, following the misinformation spread regarding immigration, refugees and culture. This racism has spread into classrooms and impacted young people of colour.

Currently, REMY are hosting a listening workshop and campaign to hear young people’s experiences in education and how it has affected (or effected?) young people in regards to their awareness about race, their critical thinking skills, and their concepts around nationality, race and ethnicity.

This listening workshop is designed to give young people their voices and make them feel heard in their experiences.

These stories will be anonymised, to be shared via a report with Members of Parliament, Academic Trusts, The Directors Children’s Services, Police, Metro Mayors and more to create positive change

If you are  interested in having your story heard, listening to others who have a similar experience, please book onto one of RYEM’s online listening workshops. The link is below:

REMY are conducting a peer researching project concerning racism in Yorkshire and Humber, and how this impacts our educational experience and self-esteem. These stories will be used in collaboration with the Department of Education, Local Authorities and schools to tackle the issue of racism impacting education and to ensure that young people of colour feel represented. This survey will be anonymous, however if you request to be a part of our project updates, please drop your email down below.
