Our new project focuses on exploring how the development of local networks can enhance the delivery of environmentally sustainable sport and activity and promote wider climate actions, using the wonderful Yorkshire and Humber region as a pilot project.
The pilot’s aims:
- Set up a local sustainability network for the Yorkshire and Humber region to promote the delivery of inclusive and sustainable sport and physical activity initiatives.
- Develop a sub-regional network engaging key stakeholders in local issues to promote the delivery of physical activity initiatives in an environmentally sustainable way.
- Develop a response which is locally actionable in collaboration with existing organisations, strategies and infrastructure to realise the ambition in the Every Move strategy.
Centre around the YHCC Just Transition Framework in approach, encompassing social and environmental justice principles and focusing on improving activity, particularly in communities most likely to be negatively impacted by climate change and for people who have the least access or highest barriers to active lifestyle choices.
