Can you help us recruit employers?

Please share with friends and contacts outside of the youth sector as well.

In 2024, over 8700 young people from the Yorkshire and Humber region identified they wanted more information and support around jobs, employment, and careers. This was nearly 15% of the 61,494 who participated from our region, in the national Make your Mark Ballot of 11 – 17-year-olds, identifying what is important to young people.

The YWU Youth Board, with the West Yorkshire Youth Collective, have planned a day, that they hope will not only respond to their peers asks, but also to employer’s feedback that young people are less prepared to enter the world of work than previous generations.

To support this day, they are looking for employers who would be willing to talk to young people about their company / organisation and wider sector.  Explaining the range of roles, what job titles mean in practice, what skill, knowledge and qualifications are essential / desirable to get your job 😊 or a job within your sector / company.

If you feel this is something you could contribute to, the group would like to invite you to join them in the afternoon of Wednesday 29th October in Leeds, for a non-traditional employment / career fair, where you will still have a stall and the chance to promote opportunities😊, but we envision more of a personal and interactive experience, where you will have the opportunity to sit and talk directly with young people to explore aspirations and answer questions about your company, sector and potential career paths. (Tables and chairs provided).
