Lindley Educational Trust have an exciting opportunity coming up this winter (subject to funding approval which we are confident in obtaining), which will facilitate free of charge activities.

Places will be limited, so as an existing contact of Lindley Educational Trust we would welcome early conversations with you as regards the Adventures Away from Home (AAfH) project. This is a Government funded initiative to reach those young people that don’t access outdoor learning and development opportunities and those from disadvantaged, vulnerable and challenging backgrounds.

We are looking to provide:

  • Activity days working in groups of up to 10 young people to 1 instructor.  We do ask that there is at least 1 adult/staff member from your organisation accompanies the group.  Lunch is provided.
  • 2-night residentials for a minimum of 20 young people plus staff. All meals from the evening meal on Day 1 through to and including lunch on Day 3 are included along with 2 nights’ accommodation.

Please be aware that transport to and from Hollowford is NOT included.

When?

Subject to our funding being confirmed.  AAFH activities will be available from early December 2024 until the end of March 2025 subject to date availability

Who Is Eligible?

AAfH is for young people aged 11 – 18 years and for those with additional needs up to the age of 25.

Examples of eligible young people include those:

  • who have a disability
  • who have English as an additional language
  • who live in communities with high poverty rates
  • with SEND
  • who are young carers, young people in care or who are care experienced
  • who are girls and young women
  • who identify as LGBTQ+
  • who are from minoritised ethnic backgrounds
  • who have experience of the secure estate
  • Live in a rural area with limited activities available for young people
  • who have poor academic attainment
  • who are displaced young people

Activities will provide Personal, Social and Educational Development opportunities which improve self-confidence, engage young people in active healthy activities and enhance Well-Being.

This year, we will be asking for written confirmation from yourselves which will agree the date activities/residential will take place, when names and dietary and medical information are required.  We will also ask you to commit at this time to completing any reports and feedback required by the Funder, supply us with 4 pictures from the activities and also provide a quote from the group leader and at least one group member.

If you are interested in looking at this opportunity, please get in touch Vanessa Hallam <Vanessa.Hallam@lindley.org> as soon as possible with details of your group, potential numbers and if you would be interested in the day activities and/or residential.
