Care experienced young people’s councils from across the region came together for a regional meet up in Bradford. They had the chance to explore the City of Culture, hear from Northern Rail who shared information on employment and career opportunities within the company and participate in workshops focused on important topics. In a session on identity and community, they came up with a new logo for the group. Another workshop was dedicated to discussing what is important to young people in care, with the aim of helping to update the current commission for care providers. This vital conversation gave young people the opportunity to share what they would like to see improved to ensure the commission reflects their modern needs, interests, and relationship with technology.
A representative from North East Lincs had the special opportunity to promote the book launch of a young person in their group. Titled ‘Dear Younger Me,’ the storybook is based on the author’s own care experience, and a copy was provided for each local area.
