We are pleased to share that on the 9th of July, The Youth Endowment Fund will publish the Youth Sector System Guidance, setting out six evidence-informed recommendations to strengthen systems that support your efforts to take an evidence based approach to reducing youth violence.

The guidance builds on our Youth Sector Practice Guidance and addresses a critical challenge facing the sector: while there is growing evidence about what works, organisations and commissioners are often constrained by wider system barriers that make implementation difficult. The recommendations focus on three themes:

  • Reforming funding for youth provision
Shaping rollout of major youth policy initiatives
    Strengthening safeguarding and workforce capability

The recommendations draw on the best available evidence, including findings from over 2,000 studies synthesised through the YEF Toolkit, YEF-funded research, and insights from young people and practitioners across England and Wales.

At a time when significant developments such as the National Youth StrategySafer Streets, Protecting lives – building hope, Young Futures Hubs, Better Youth Spaces and other youth policy reforms are taking shape, we believe this guidance provides a timely contribution to discussions about how the sector can be better supported to deliver effective services for children and young people vulnerable to violence.

Please join us at our Virtual learning Café event to launch the Youth Sector System Guidance.
