Over the last 18 months, the Youth Endowment Fund has been working closely with the government as they work up a plan to half knife crime. Today, the government has published that plan – its “Knife Crime Action Plan” —setting out an ambition to halve knife crime.
The ambition is needed. Every year, around 200 people lose their lives to knife crime. Each one is a tragedy. But violence is not inevitable—it is preventable. A plan that is rooted in evidence and focused on what works, gives us the best chance of keeping children safe.
