The ProMoScribe tool – a straightforward web app that transcribes audio files into text – was born of ProMo’s need to transcribe audio (such as interviews and workshop recordings) without having to rely on expensive subscription-based software. Through prototyping with AI, the team at ProMo have developed a working transcription app that does exactly what’s needed: users simply upload an audio file, get the transcript, and copy the text. ProMo have now made this available to the sector for free: users will need to provide an API key (there are links within the tool to help with free or low-cost set up) – meaning that no data or API keys are stored by ProMo.
