Youth service providers, such as teachers and youth workers, can often be approached by police officers who are working to gather information about young people in their care, or community. Unfortunately, youth service providers report feeling intimidated and obligated by the police to give up information, despite the potential harms that sharing this information may have on young people. As youth work and service professionals, you have a duty of care to the young people that you
work with – you should avoid exercising this duty in ways which can lead to young people being harmed and/or criminalised.
