The Government is backing The King’s Trust’s new youth opportunity initiative with £10 million of funding, launched today at Buckingham Palace.

Following the King’s Youth Opportunity Summit, the Government has pledged £10 million of funding towards The King’s Trust’s new youth opportunity initiative, subject to a business case. This will support young people, including those not in work or stable employment to build the confidence, skills and experience they need to thrive.

We are pleased that it will be match-funded with £10 million of corporate and philanthropic investment in support of the Government’s ambition, as set out in ‘Youth Matters’, to increase the number of young people with access to trusted adults by half a million by 2035.

The programme will provide mentoring, coaching and careers advice, it will connect young people with trusted adults who can provide guidance and support during key transitions in their lives. By providing support early, the programme will help tackle the growing number of young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), while strengthening the networks and relationships that help young people succeed.

A significant amount of the funding announced today will be ring-fenced for commissioned partnership delivery outside of the King’s Trust, and they are committed to co-designing their approach with relevant partners and young people.
