Resolver, an online risk consultancy, has published a report looking at online harms and the online network known as “the Com”. The report examines the formation and evolution of online harm ecosystems, the intersection of behaviors and subcultures across platforms, patterns of grooming and coercion, and factors increasing children’s vulnerability. The Com largely consists of young people aged 11 to 25. They face risks like exploitation, abuse, suicide encouragement, self-harm, and harassment. Many have adverse childhood experiences. The report advises trauma-informed support and clear guidance to prevent harm.
